Tough itinerant traders

Today is the first of February, the day that street vendors must leave the center Temuco by order of the Mayor.
To take this action which affects more than a thousand people, is said to be for the good of all, that the mayor has to look after the welfare of the 300,000 inhabitants and not by a small group. Among other justifications each one more pilgrim, it is said that some dealers have vehicles, as if being mobile meant to be homeless, with the years of work can not own anything.
A personero the Mayor said in an interview on Channel 2 regional, a fruit merchant at the fair Pinto sold 10 boxes of peaches and a street vendor on a central corner sold 200 boxes of peaches a day. What did this person say?
Then comes the accusation of some coincidence with the crime, do the crime without end street traders in the middle? This is ridiculous, there is crime by other causes, but anything goes for the authority.
That annoys the pedestrians, the streets are all true, but a living is also a problem we all need to resolve and work of street vendor, is an honorable activity. It works in the summer and winter street, with heat and cold. But it bothers some and want to eliminate it by decree of the city center. The big stores downtown merchants are demanding the end of the street vendors. Although they make large profits.
also conjures up an argument that the presence of nano (Mapuche grandmothers) selling their products, would be frowned upon by tourists visiting the area. Since tourism is the main thing for the current authorities.
This fight that occurs on the street just begun. On 31 January more than 150 merchants came out to protest for their rights violated in the central streets of Temuco. The street vendors gathered at Bulnes, between Portales and Montt, cut traffic with bonfires and a group chains.
Repression was swift, arrested more than 10 of them and several were injured.
At the moment there is a solution to the conflict, because the mayor wants to become merchants established in certain passages and they say that if they sell is precisely because they are the last of the public, to reach the center or back to their homes.
Order and control is the slogan of the right-wing mayor.
